19/04/2010 - Ashington Match Preview

Whitley head to St James Park tonight looking to win the first of possibly 3 cups this season.
Manager Ian Chandler has nearly a full squad to choose from, with the exception of long term injury victim and club captain Dave Coulson.
Whitley have reached the final this year after victories over Newcastle Utd Reserves and West Allotment Celtic, tonight's opponents, Ashington, started a round earlier than Bay and have accounted for Team Northumbria, Bedlington Terriers and Blyth Spartans after extra time in their semi final.
Whitley last won this competition in 2005 while Ashington, despite reaching the final last year (Where they lost to Newcastle Utd Reserves) , haven't won the Senior Cup since 1967.
Ashington have won the Senior Cup on 9 previous occasions compared to Whitley Bay's 10.
Tonight's match is pay on the door only with tickets priced at Ł5 for adults and Ł3 concessions. Entry via East Stand turnstiles.
